Faked Intelligence (FI)

The illusion is real.

We need to stop calling it Artificial Intelligence.

Today’s generative tech does not possess intelligence. It possesses statistics.

What is FI?

The current AI is not artificially created intelligence. It is merely a very sophisticated simulation, creating an output that mimics intelligence to trick users into perceiving it as such. Thus this is not Artificial Intelligence, but merely an incredibly good deception – a Faked Intelligence and it should be called that.

Faked Intelligence is the term to describe the illusion of human cognition achieved through massive statistical prediction.

It is a highly convincing facade designed to mimic understanding, reasoning, and creativity.

Let’s not split hairs, why should this matter?

We are building a world on systems that don’t know what they are saying. They confidently hallucinate code, fabricate facts, and mask mathematical proximity and linguistic statistics as human thought.

Being based on statistics, this is prone to create entirely fabricated facts and change known facts, which we consume unchecked in an exploding amount of areas of our life.

Worse, this output is published and fed back as input to the FI algorithms. As a result, the variety of knowledge will slowly start to erode, not even guaranteeing that what survives is the actual truth in all cases.

This is a looming, enormous danger for science, critical thinking, innovation and society itself that can not be stressed enough.

You mean AI (FI) is bad?

Absolutely not.

FI is great and can be transformative – if applied properly.

If it is potentials and actual abilities are misunderstood and thus not applied properly it will lead to wrong expectations and goal settings, unsatisfactory results, exploding cost and counterproductivity.

If Blockchain rings a bell – yes, it was the same situation 😉

So what’s the plan?

This initiative is not about bashing FI.

Whether to use it or not is not a discussion anymore since years – if you do not, you are missing out on a ton of useful tools that will improve almost every aspect of work.

As an Engineer if you reject FI you are obsolete.

At the same time, if you do not understand FI good enough and let it do almost everything to just ship ship ship – you will be obsolete soon, as well.

Today’s challenges are not whether to use FI, but how to use FI in a way that it leads to correct, useful and maintainable results with a clear ROI in time and investment.

This site is dedicated to two things:

  1. Pulling back the curtain. We analyze the architecture, expose the limits, and document the difference between real compute and faked comprehension.
  2. Use this understanding to collectively create ideal workflows
